Over 250 people have been taken into custody in Charlotte, North Carolina, as part of continuing federal immigration enforcement measures, according to official sources.

Charlotte represents the newest American city to undergo heightened federal presence, following similar measures in larger metropolitan areas like Chicago and Los Angeles in recent months. Federal authorities have stated that those arrested include persons with illegal activities and organized crime affiliates.

Nevertheless, community representatives and residents have vocally opposed the arrests, which federal agencies have called "Operation Charlotte's Web". The state's Democratic governor has alleged that individuals are being singled out based on their racial background.

"We've seen covered, heavily armed agents in military-style garb driving non-descript vehicles, targeting American individuals based on their appearance, practicing racial profiling and detaining arbitrary people in public spaces," declared the top official. "This strategy is not strengthening our protection."
